Waiting to welcome you is Mission Beach and the
turquoise waters of the great barrier reef, the wet tropics
rainforest, Cassowaries and of course their friendly hospitality.
Offering a unique blend of reef and rainforest, the village is both
welcoming and inviting.
Approx 2 hours drive south of Cairns you'll find a stepping stone to
the great islands of the Hinchinbrook Channel.
Encompassing a number of beachside communities including Bingil Bay,
Wongaling , South mission beach and Garners beach. There is no real
centre to the region, however mission beach itself has shops,
restaurants, newsagency, bus and hire car facilities. The people are
very laid back and friendly, with long deserted beaches and plenty of
ocean front accommodation. It is a very popular weekend getaway
destination for Cairns and Townsville residents.

- Local residents boast that visitors can still
find their own secluded coves with their own pristine beaches for the
day. Rainforest walks in World Heritage Wet Tropics, White Water
Rafting, Tandem Skydiving, horse riding, fishing, sailing and sea
kayaking are some popular activities. Water based activities include
visiting the Great Barrier Reef, Game Fishing, Sailing and Kayaking,
scuba diving and snorkeling. Day cruises to Dunk Island depart from
Clump Point Jetty.
If there is a chance of seeing a Cassowary, this area is the place
that it will happen. Popular walking tracks include the Licuala track
(2 hrs), Lacey Creek (30mins), Bicton Hill Lookout (1.5 hrs) and the
7km return Edmund Kennedy Walk.
Come on down and see us sometime. We will make you so at home that you
will probably never want to leave our piece of tropical paradise.
